Physiotherapy for Combat Sports Athletes

Whether you’re stepping onto the mat, into the ring, or onto the competition floor, combat sports push your body to its limits. Injuries and setbacks are almost inevitable, but with the right care, they don’t have to hold you back.

Qualified Physiotherapist

I’m a qualified physiotherapist with over five years’ experience working in musculoskeletal outpatient clinics, and I’m also a taekwondo black belt who’s competed myself. That means I don’t just treat injuries in theory—I understand the demands of combat sports firsthand. My goal is to help fighters, martial artists, and athletes return to training stronger, more confident, and better prepared than before.

What to expect

Initial assessment

£55

Your first appointment is a detailed one-to-one assessment where we’ll:

  • Explore your injury history, training background, and goals
  • Carry out a full physical examination to understand the root cause
  • Begin treatment right away, whether that’s hands-on therapy, exercise prescription, or both

The aim is not just to treat symptoms, but to understand why the problem started and how to overcome it.

Follow up sessions

£45

In follow-ups, we’ll build on your progress with:

  • Tailored exercise progressions
  • Advice on training modifications so you can keep active safely
  • Step-by-step strategies to get you back to competition or training with confidence

These sessions are flexible and always centred around your goals—whether that’s recovering after surgery, managing a long-standing issue, or addressing that nagging ache that’s holding you back in sparring.

Why Work With a Combat Sports Specialist?

Combat sports are unique. The explosive kicks of taekwondo, the rotational power of a punch, the joint demands of grappling—all place very specific stresses on the body. Many general physiotherapists are excellent clinicians, but they don’t always appreciate the subtleties of training loads, fight prep, or competition schedules.

Because I’ve been there myself—training, competing, and pushing through knocks and injuries—I can help bridge the gap between rehab and performance. My focus is always on keeping you moving, training smart, and returning to your sport with confidence.

Individual, Goal-Oriented Care

No two athletes are the same.

That’s why my approach is tailored around:

Your sport – whether striking, grappling, or a mix
Your stage – beginner, amateur competitor, or seasoned pro
Your goals – from pain-free everyday movement to tournament readiness
