As we move into the final stretch of the year, it’s the perfect time to reflect on what has been an incredible 2025 so far for our Taekwondo club. From local tournaments to world championships, our students and instructors have pushed themselves to new heights, and their hard work and dedication are truly paying off.
One of the most exciting highlights of the year has been the success of our students in competition. Matthew has shown impressive consistency throughout the season, earning bronze medals in the tag team event at several tournaments. His performance has not only demonstrated technical skill but also strong teamwork and determination.
We also saw a fantastic debut from Amelia, who competed in her very first tournament this year. Stepping onto the mat for the first time is always a big moment, and Amelia made it even more memorable by winning bronze in the tag team event. We’re incredibly proud of her courage and commitment, and we know this is just the beginning of her journey in competitive Taekwondo.
A huge congratulations is also due to Ivy, who competed at the Taekwondo International World Championships in Glasgow and brought home a gold medal in the musical pattern event. Competing at such a high level requires focus, creativity, and precision—and Ivy delivered all of that and more on the world stage.
I also had the privilege of competing at the World Championships. I was honoured to win gold in individual sparring and silver in team sparring. These moments were not just personal milestones but also a reflection of the strength and support of our taekwondo community.
Looking ahead, there are even more reasons to celebrate. In October, a dedicated group of our students will be grading for their black belts—a huge step in any martial artist’s journey. We’re proud of their progress and know they’ll rise to the challenge with the discipline and spirit they’ve shown all year.
And finally, we’re incredibly excited to honour a major milestone for my own instructor, World Master Carter, who will be promoted to 8th Degree Black Belt in October. This prestigious rank will be officially awarded at the British Championships in November, which will serve as the final big event of the year. It’s a well-earned recognition of his decades of dedication to Taekwondo and to the students he continues to inspire.
As we prepare for the last few months of the year, we do so with pride, gratitude, and motivation. Whether it’s a first medal, a world title, or a new belt, every achievement is a testament to the hard work and heart that our students, instructors, and families put in every day.
