MY TAEKWONDO JOURNEY

The great thing about taekwondo is that there is always another goal to aim towards. When you combine exciting and realistic goal setting with a community of people who are invested in pushing you to be your best self, your potential becomes limitless! As a child, I progressed through the taekwondo belt system until I earnt my black belt in 2011. After you achieve the first level at black belt, the time between the gradings becomes much longer and so I thought to myself, what’s next? This led me onto thinking about competing. Since entering my first tournament in 2012, I haven’t looked back.

Championships

I have won countless national and international championships. As well as travelling the UK to compete, I have had the opportunity to compete abroad, in stunning locations such as Canada, Italy, Croatia, Poland and Switzerland. The medals and trophies are special, but the feelings of teamwork and comradery that I have experienced are indescribable. I train and help to coach at my instructor’s club multiple times per week and also train with the TAGB England Team on Saturdays.

England ladies team captain

Since 2018, I have been the proud captain of the England Ladies Team and it has made me realise how gratifying it is to guide others. I made an effort to complete courses in umpiring, refereeing and coaching, finally qualifying as a Taekwondo Instructor. I took on my own club in 2024 and I am proud to present Core Combat Taekwondo.

Physiotherapy

CORE COMBAT PHSIOTHERAPY

I knew that I wanted to become a physiotherapist after receiving physiotherapy treatment for a sporting injury myself. I was immediately interested in the world of helping athletes to return from injury, maximising their potential and performance. After spending time observing the top physiotherapist for the TAGB British Squad, I knew that the title of Physiotherapist was something that I needed to add to my toolbox.

QUALIFIED PHYSIOTHERAPIST

I qualified as a physiotherapist with a first class degree in 2021. I have built up invaluable experience in the NHS, working in the orthopaedic ward and in MSK Outpatients. Providing guidance and rehabilitation to patients who have undergone traumatic injuries and illnesses is rewarding and requires empathy and patience. I also work one day per week in a private setting, where we take pride in delivering the highest quality care. I particularly enjoy working with those who are wanting to return to higher level sport.

SPECIALIST SERVICE

This physiotherapy experience, along with my sporting success in Taekwondo, has enabled me to develop my confidence and knowledge to a level where I feel that I can provide a specialist service for combat athletes. Regardless of your martial arts or combat sport background, Core Combat Physiotherapy is invested in getting you back in the ring. Whether that be through hands-on treatments, guidance and discussion or a tailored rehabilitation programme, this physiotherapy service will make sure that you are fighting fit.
